Sam and Jake Lit founded their department store in 1891 with the intent to offer affordable goods for the hardworking people of Philadelphia, PA. Their penchant for all-American quality caught on, and Lit Brothers enjoyed a long tenure that lasted well into the 1970’s.

The iconic building that once housed the Lit Brothers Department Store stands today in its original Victorian glory, a testament to simpler times and great architecture.

Still a proud feature of Philadelphia’s downtown, you can catch a fantastic LED light show after sundown on holidays and city events. You’ve gotta admit – the Lit Bros’ building continues to live up to its name!
